My Dearest Third Child,
Yesterday was Saturday. I’m currently 21 weeks pregnant with you. As I curled up next to your daddy, before all the morning scramble began, you graciously let him feel one of those precious kicks that I’ve been feeling for a while now. He was so excited. We talk about you often. We long to see the dynamic you’ll add to our family. We wonder who you will be, and if you’ll be a boy or girl. Daddy wants a boy, but I assure you whatever you are he is going to love you so big. He really is the best daddy in the whole world. He comes straight home from work everyday eager to get to us. He kisses and hugs us all and goes straight to the floor to let your brother and sister climb all over him. He is so much fun, and I know you will join right in as soon as your able. I can’t wait for you to meet him as you come into this world. You’ll probably both be crying.
Later that morning after breakfast we headed to the living room. This is probably when you felt your crazy sister, Sparrow climbing all over you. She just turned one in May. She is acting so big these days. Even though she’s rather small and quite bald. She loves to walk and climb all over the place. You probably heard me tell her to get off the couch 500 times yesterday or to stop annoying her brother while he goes potty. I’ll go ahead and apologize ahead of time she’s probably going to drive you crazy. She’s so strong-willed. Although, I know that y’all will be best friends soon enough. She will be glad to show you the ropes. She gives the best hugs and kisses, a real top-notch snuggler if you’re into that kind of thing. I wonder if you will be a cuddle bug? I’m not going to lie, I’ve enjoyed all her sweet snuggles. I know you will too soon enough. We can’t wait for you to play with her.
Did you hear that show playing in the background? That was your silly big brother, Cypress. He is obsessed with the movie Cars right now. I’m sure you’ve probably memorized all the words by now. I know we have. He’s really the best boy around. He’s kind, gentle and obedient. He likes to play it safe. You’re really going to love him, and I’ll be willing to bet he is going to teach you so much. He already has taught Sparrow everything she knows. He has the biggest servant heart. He meets us all at the door with our shoes when it’s time to go. He’s just a natural born leader. I have a feeling you will really look up to him when you arrive.
As the day wrapped up and everyone headed to their bed you may have heard me crying. Sometimes pregnancy does that to Mommy. I don’t want you to think it’s your fault. Mommy just gets so overwhelmed sometimes thinking of how she will protect and care for all three of her precious babies when you finally join us. I really just worry about silly things though, such as how I’ll be able to get all three of you in the car. Or if I’ll be able to handle all three of you at the zoo or the grocery store? It’s the really big and important things that bring the tears though. One day you’ll discover what a precious responsibility your souls are to me. My greatest accomplishment will be the day when I can have peace that all three of you will be in eternity together with me, your daddy, and our Jesus. Until that day I promise you, my baby, I won’t stop praying for you. I won’t stop loving and striving to be the best follower of Christ and Mama that I can be for y’all. I promise that your daddy and I won’t be perfect and we will let you down, but we will teach you of the One who won’t ever leave or forsake you. Today the Holy Spirit comforted me with a verse that I feel was for you and your siblings. 2 Timothy 1 Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you through Christ Jesus. You see baby, we don’t have to be perfect. God’s grace is covering us. It empowers me to push on, keep loving all of you well, and trusting that God has it all blanketed in His undeserving grace. I can’t wait for you to meet Him.
